Bill: Military Service Act
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2036
Description[?]:
With the defence of our nation in mind, each citizen; deemed by an official medical source to be able-bodied and of sound mind, should complete no less than 6 months basic training and 18 months active service in either the Army, Navy or Airforce of the Democratic Republic of Ikradon. Citizens shall complete their Military Service at a time of their own discretion, although this will be limited to some point between between 16 and 25 years of age. Active Service need not necessarily take place immediately after the Basic Training, although citizens who leave a term of more than 3 months between their Basic Training & Active Service - or fail a subsequent Medical examination; will be required to complete an additional 3 months of Basic training before proceeding directly to their active service. |

Message | 6+18 MONTHS of total service?! No possiblity of service outside the military? People under 18 years allowed to join the army? We would get a reputation as the warmongers on the world. The DSP definately opposes. |
Date | not recorded | From | Progressive Evolution Party | To | Debating the Military Service Act |
Message | Given the PE's taste for soft-line foreign policy, the bill is hardly consistent. I do not think we will likely be convinced to rally to its support. |
Date | not recorded | From | To | Debating the Military Service Act |
Message | The Bill proposed is obviously an attempt by my party to play the 'Devils' Advocate'. The initial proposal is obviously an extreme. While I understand that tirade of fire, brimstone and race-hatred is hardly likely to appeal to the majority of us here, I would like to see an efficient and capable military in Ikradon and would welcome amendments to the proposal that would be deemed more acceptable by the honourable members of this house. |
Date | not recorded | From | New Democratic Party | To | Debating the Military Service Act |
Message | We are strongly opposed to the concept of forced military service and will opposed this. |
Date | not recorded | From | Socialist Party of Ikradon | To | Debating the Military Service Act |
Message | The Socialist Party supports compulsary military/civil defense military service. However, the length and limited possibilities for weapon-free or civil service in this proposal forces us to vote against it. |
