Bill: Motion of No Confidence in the Bennett Government

Details

Submitted by[?]: Course of Freedom (Kellins faction)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: October 5320

Description[?]:

Whereas, the current government has demonstrated a flagrant disregard for democratic principles and civil liberties, undermining the very fabric of our constitutional government,

Whereas, the government has authorized the Imperial Security Service (ISS) to conduct extensive surveillance and investigations against political organizations and public figures without sufficient justification or oversight,

Whereas, these measures represent a clear overreach of power and an infringement upon the rights of citizens to engage in free and open political discourse,

Whereas, the government's actions indicate a far-right and anti-democratic agenda, seeking to suppress dissent and stifle opposition voices,

Whereas, the government's approach has caused widespread concern among human rights groups, civil society organizations, and citizens who value democratic norms and fundamental freedoms,

Therefore, be it resolved that this Parliament expresses its lack of confidence in the current government's ability to uphold democratic principles, protect civil liberties, and serve as a responsible steward of our constitutional government,

Be it further resolved that this Parliament calls for the immediate resignation of the government and the formation of a new government committed to safeguarding democratic values, respecting human rights, and promoting inclusive governance,

Be it further resolved that this Parliament urges all members to support the formation of a new government that will restore public trust, foster political dialogue, and address the pressing needs of our nation.

MessageMr Speaker,

Once again, the Honourable Ms Kellins and her party have chosen to prioritise partisanship and ideology over good government and political stability. At present, the opposition are unfit to govern this country and they need to reconsider their approach ahead of the next elections.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Harvey Sunny could not come to Imperial Diet because he went to see his lawyer to initiate a lawsuit against the survelliance on Republicans and Socialists.

The survelliance and attacks on Republicans and Socialists are unacceptable and should be stopped immediately; but if the government remains insistent on the survelliance, that will be bad for them; they will lose public support and therefore elections.

PLP will remain insistent on the opposition to the so-called "inquiries" (they are, in reality, unlawful and autocratic survelliance) and will remain its commitment to democracy; the undemocratic measures will be responded with denouncation and protests.

MessageMr Speaker,

I am getting tired of this. The left always makes complaints and always asks for more, they ask the people to support them, but it is not by destroying stability that you are going to have it, moreover, the measures taken by the government are against organizations that are threatening to democracy and the rule of law. I'm sorry to say that, but the left, and it's very sad to see a left like that, the left lives in a utopia. During the time that we lose to make the representatives of the left heard, the country, and thanks to our leadership, continues to advance economically, militarily and diplomatically. In all honesty, the left makes complaints about everything and anything, just to have an excuse to bring down this government.

The Rt' Hon. Garrett Richard Bennett
Prime Minister of Luthori.

The so-called "democratic" government is against Republicans and Socialists, not organizations that threaten the democracy and rule of law. If you were really commited to democracy, you should have opposed the far-right and absolute monarchist groups as well as the far-left groups; the government is highly hypocritical about the issue of security.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I find it rather disheartening to hear such dismissive remarks from the Prime Minister. It is evident that the government is failing to acknowledge the genuine concerns raised by the opposition regarding civil rights and liberties. Instead, the response appears to be one of deflection and disregard for the values that underpin a thriving democracy.

Let me remind the Honourable Prime Minister that stability should not come at the expense of the fundamental rights of our citizens. We must be vigilant in safeguarding the principles of democracy and the rule of law, even in the face of challenges or threats. It is precisely during times of perceived stability that we must ensure the protection of civil rights, to prevent any erosion of the very foundations upon which our society is built.

The opposition does not seek to destroy stability, but rather to question the actions and policies of the government that may jeopardize the rights and freedoms of our people. It is our duty as elected representatives to hold the government accountable and to voice concerns when we believe that the actions taken may have far-reaching consequences for our democratic institutions.

Moreover, it is important to note that the organizations being targeted by the government are not a threat to democracy or the rule of law. Rather, they represent diverse voices and perspectives within our society. Suppressing or stigmatizing these organizations under the guise of maintaining stability can be seen as authoritarian in nature, and goes against the principles of inclusivity and pluralism.

We must strive for a society where different viewpoints can coexist, where civil discourse is encouraged, and where the rights of all citizens are protected. It is through open dialogue and a commitment to democratic values that we can ensure progress, rather than relying on a top-down approach that undermines the very essence of democracy.

In conclusion, I implore the government to consider the concerns raised by the opposition seriously. Let us engage in meaningful discussions, prioritize the rights and liberties of our citizens, and work together to build a stronger, more inclusive society.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

MessageMr Speaker,

With great respect, the honourable leader of the Socialists is misleading Luthorian voters about the efforts of the government.

The measures introduced by the government were designed specifically to deal with organisations engaged in terrorism, sabotage and violence. None of these activities are legitimate expressions of political rights. Any person engaged in these activities should feel the full force of the law.

The claim that the government is engaged in "suppression" or "attacks" on law-abiding socialist or republican groups is a deliberately false claim. The rhetoric is inflammatory and it is designed to generate an atmosphere of political chaos. As long as the Socialists and the Progressive Liberal Party continue to promote fear and misinformation, they will remain in opposition.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We do not promote neither fear nor misinformation; the measures introduced by the government were deliberately designed to oppress people based on their political beliefs; I can prove: the government constantly and falsely accuses Republicans and Socialists for being "traitor"s, they are doing this to promote their anti-democratic far-right agenda.

By accusing the far-left groups; they think that the far-right becomes perfect and justified; but NO because any kind of extremism is dangerous for democracy regardless of if it is far-left or far-right.

If these measures are to continue; the current government should be called "autocracy" and head of it should be called "dictator" because it achieves near-absolute power by using the puppet security service to suppress dissent and this is incompatible with democracy, this is rather compatible with dictatorship.
