Bill: Ikradonian Culture Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Absolutist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2348
Description[?]:
In order to ensure the continued protection of Ikradonian culture, the Absolutist Party proposes the following articles. Article One: Although people today may not have interest in a particular site, future generations may renew interest, and it would be a shame to deny them their heritage and history. Article Two: Too often we have seen decrepit libraries, managed by local governments, which literally hurt to look at. Many local governments provide excellent libraries, however, and will be allowed to continue management of these, however, under a central system. Article Three: Too often, local museums are quite small. Organizations wishing to take over a museam, or build a new one, will be required to present information from an unbiased standpoint, or they will lose government support. Organizations must be non-profit, and must swear to preserve Ikradonian heritage. Any organization that breaks these terms will have all property, which the government has paid for, returned to government protection, and given a home in a better museum. The government will be allowed to maintain meseums, if it so wishes, under the non-profit organization "Ikradonian Heritage Fund." Local governments may establish similar organizations. Meusums should not be restricted to gvoernment only, however, as often times, people can devote themselves full time, and outside a system that often is too slow. |

Message | FIND welcomes debate on this bill. We are particularly curious about the rationale for Article One, which seems unclear from the bil description. |
Date | 21:34:12, January 20, 2007 CET | From | Absolutist Party | To | Debating the Ikradonian Culture Act |
Message | Under the current legislation, the government only preserves what the people want. However, under the proposed legislation, the government will preserve all historically significant sites, so that future generations may view them intact. |

Message | We believe that the AP may be interpreting "public interest" overly narrowly in the context of this legislation topic. |
Date | 21:50:07, January 20, 2007 CET | From | Ikradone Nationalsozialistische Partei | To | Debating the Ikradonian Culture Act |
Message | in Article One, we prefer the current status. We believe the AP is musguided in their attempt to fix the problem -- it would be better if more effort was put into place with the current laws, rather than replacing them. We fully support Article Two. In Article Three, we would prefer the National Government take full control over the museum system. |

Date | 12:07:20, January 21, 2007 CET | From | Iqembu Sokusebenzisana Yeningi | To | Debating the Ikradonian Culture Act |
Message | Local control is more democratic, while national control leads inevitably toward bureaucracy. |
Date | 18:49:15, January 21, 2007 CET | From | Absolutist Party | To | Debating the Ikradonian Culture Act |
Message | You must admit, that often, at the local level, the libraries are decrepit, and lousy centers of learning and study. Local officials would still run day to day operations, however, the National Government would ensure that every library is of equal high standing. |
Date | 23:40:22, January 21, 2007 CET | From | Progressive Centrist Democrats | To | Debating the Ikradonian Culture Act |
Message | The LDRP will opose. The AP just told us that they support the current state. Read carefully. The national government funds museums and libraries, the local governments runs them. |
