Description[?]:

===Overview===

The New Democratic Initiative of Barmenistan is a political party existing in the nation of Barmenistan. Its headquarters are located in Sisula City, Sisula.

===Ideology===

The New Democratic Initiative of Barmenistan is committed to the following:

• The establishment of a sustainable social democracy in Barmenistan
• The protection of human rights
• The promotion of minority rights
• Boosting ties with foreign countries
• Military downsizing
• The separation of politics and religion
• The expansion of the education system and greater emphasis placed on its role in society
• The establishment of a subsidised national health service

===History===

Founded 2244 as an amalgamation of various centrist and left-leaning interest groups, the party gained immediate credibility at its first election in October 2247, becoming Sisula’s second-largest party and the nation’s fourth.

A period with senior NDIB party members in Cabinet positions followed the formation of a leftist bloc and coalition government with the Communist and Nationalist parties. During the course of this alliance between the three parties the framework of a social democracy was established.

A period of political instability in Barmenistan caused by the insurgence of Communist militants led to the beginning of the breakdown of the coalition. The militants, although not officially attached to the Communist Party of Barmenistan, claimed responsibility for several attacks on Barmenistan Liberal Party members and property. The failure of the Communist Party to condemn these attacks and their willingness to welcome the armed group to the political process was unpopular with both senior and grassroots members of the NDIB alike.

The disintegration of the agreement between New Democratic Initiative of Barmenistan/Nationalist Party and Communist Party officials was exacerbated by the apparent snubbing of the two smaller parties at the time of the October 2256 elections. With mediocre results for the coalition government and Liberal/Tory gains already a problem created by the election, senior Communists gave token positions away to its allies, creating unrest. This event was described as “heinous disregard for the wishes, services and loyalty of both the NDIB and NP as well as the people of Barmenistan” by Justice Minister Petia Yanchulova who resigned in protest along with two other cabinet members as well as the three Nationalist Party cabinet ministers.

The New Democratic Initiative of Barmenistan voted in favour of the dissolution of the month-old parliament in order to bring an end to the instability and political stalemate that existed in Barmenistan. Although results were not the disaster that the Communist Party had predicted for its two former allies, they were far from ideal as the NDIB no longer had a foothold in the Cabinet. In spite of this, NDIB Presidential candidate Maksim Shatskikh described the event as being “for the best… even though [the coalition’s] hard work to establish a social democracy will probably be undone, at least the citizen’s of the country will have a functioning government.”

When asked in an interview for the party newsletter what he thought of the Liberal/Tory government, former Trade and Industry Minister Valentin Belkevich was quoted as saying that “the Liberals seem alright… Even if they are Adam Smith nuts. Hopefully they won’t be there too long though.” Sentiments from the rest of the party seem to be similar.

===The Future===

The party leadership has expressed its desire to continue its policy of introducing pacifist and secularist leaning legislation, whilst at the same time promoting human rights, international development, anti-gun law, green causes, the boosting of foreign investment in Barmenistan, the complete eradication of unemployment and the restructuring of the justice system.

With the entry of the Aotearoan Resistance League into politics following their unexpected armed uprising, the New Democratic Initiative hopes to be able to discourage the use of violence whilst at the same time promoting the minority rights which is has long fought to boost the cause of and to protect.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
