Details
Nation[?]: Commonwealth of Lodamun (Lodamun)
Seats[?] in National Congress[?]: 0
Color[?]:
Description[?]:
Formed in May 5209, the Grand Republican Party (GRP) is committed to small government, capitalism, law and order and traditional social policies. The GRP swept to power in the 5211 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, falling just short of a two-thirds super-majority. Although President Bergmann was re-elected in 5213, the FRP lost a large number of seats in the Presidium as the Progressive Democrats surged with a large increase in turnout. However, at subsequent Presidium elections in 5215 and 5217 the GRP have main minor gains, steadily increasing their majority. ==Presidents The GRP have controlled the Presidency since Apr 5211. - President Anthea Bergmann (5211 - ) ==Leadership The GRP does not have a leader as such. - Executive Level - An elected President is the most senior figure within the Party, followed by the Vice President. - Legislative level - If the GRP is the majority party then it will control the Speaker position. Failing that the GRP will be led by a leader of the opposition. - State level - Replication of the Commonwealth. Elected Governors are the senior figures within the GRP at the state level, with the leaders of the party in the state legislatures being the next most important figures. - Party level - The Party is headed by a Chairman at the Commonwealth level, and there are five Chairman representing the state parties. ==Factions In the 5210's the GRP formed a big-tent broad based party representing the centre, centre-right, right and far-right of Lodamese politics. Some notable factions are listed below, although it is worth noting there are significant overlaps between some of the factions. From 5211 the Moderates largely controlled the party, although Conservatives were able to win a number of major policy decisions and the Fundamentalists form a large faction. -Moderates - Moderate on social issues, this faction prioritizes the economy and favors capitalism, reduced regulations and increased international trade. Comfortable with social liberalism and immigration. Typically more urban based. Urban and business elites. -Conservatives - Conservatives focus on social issues, although broadly favour capitalism. Strong on law and order and rebuilding the military, conservatives remain balanced on immigration and foreign affairs. Typically more rural based. Significant overlap with the Fundamentalists. Rural and agricultural elites. -Fundamentalists - Fundamentalists seek a greater role for Hosianism in public life, although split between advocates of Charismism and Restorationism. Socially conservative, most adhere to prosperity theology and favor capitalism. -Radicals - The radicals prioritize capitalism above all else and seek to reduce regulations, particularly environmental regulations. Urban based. -Nationalists - The nationalists seeks a strong military combined with isolation policies on immigration and foreign affairs. The Nationalist faction flirts with white supremacist views. More working class and urban based. |
