Description[?]:
ULTRAS The Ultras are a nationalist party, created in May 2183. Created after a meeting of prominent right-wingers drawn from a variety of minor fringe parties who had failed to gain any national representation. However most importantly, several of its prominent founders were former Nationalist Party MP’s. The Ultras act as a successor to the Nationalist Party, however their economic policies represent a shift. National identity, a strong defence, the halting of immigration, and the repatriation of immigrants within Rutania, and perhaps most controversial of all, the policy of Rutanian irredentism, the creation of Greater Rutania. The Ultras also target a similar support base to the Nationalist Party, aiming for Upper Class and disaffected Working Class votes. However in economic terms the party departs from the doctrine of the Nationalist Party. The Ultras favour what would be described as socialism. Ultras disapprove of the free market, seeing it as a key player in the sustained attack upon traditional Rutanian groups and culture. The Party wishes to increase the strength of the state, aiming to aid the working class and provide support for the poverty stricken aristocracy. --- LEADER The Ultras are led by Tomas Gavessen, elected after the inaugural meeting of the Ultras in May 2183, after a contest between Gavessen and Mikel Vroidght, both former Nationalist MP’s. Gavessen, born 2135, was an MP for the Nationalists between 2165 and 2169, when the party collapsed in chaos. Gavessen, was then an MP with the Grand Republicans between 2171 and 2175, before becoming a Conservative MP between 2175 and 2179, but was deselected prior to the 2179, after a series of fiercely anti-immigrant speeches in Parliament. Gavessen has always been elected from the province of Delvar. Gavessen is married to his wife Anitta, and they have five children. Prior to becoming an MP he served in the Rutanian Army from the age of 16 until 2164, when he was kicked out after allegations of abusing recruits of Majatran extraction at the Paratroopers Training Centre. Gavessen was able to become a candidate on the list for the Nationalist Party in Devlar after the death of his father, another Nationalist MP. --- FACTIONS AND EXTRA-PARLIAMENTARY ORGANISATIONS The Ultras were created after a meeting of several nationalist groups in 2183, including the National Front, Greater Rutanian Movement, Nationalist Party and Rutanian Democrats, a collection of parties who held a few seats at the local level, but not nationally. However behind the Ultras were several other non-political working class movements, such as the ‘Teddy Boys’, ‘Rutanian Movement’, ‘Patriotic Youth League’, 'Black and Tans' and the ‘Natives’, involved in football hooliganism, street violence and hate crimes. These groups continue to remain members of the Ultras, despite the Ultras leadership committing itself to peaceful actions. |
