The Parti social-démocrate seeks to bring the values of solidarity, liberty, and egalitarianism into politics. Political Position: Center left to left wing Progressive Republican Social Democratic Protectionist Internal factions: Classicalists - 50% represent a classical Centre-left form of social democracy and seeks greater powers for labor unions and cooperatives. Centrists - 30% represent the moderates within the PSD valuing civil liberties and fiscal responsibility over traditionally left wing politics. Democratic Socialists - 20% the most left wing faction. Supports a gradual move towards democratic socialism via increased worker democracy and greater welfare benefits as well as income controls to reduce income inequality.
