Message(OOC: Don't you think these a 55% reduction in public spending is a little extreme over one year?! You'd be cutting public health expenditure from about 1,400 ZAR per person to less than half one ZAR per person over night! Education and healthcare would collapse across the country over night; millions would be plunged into poverty instantly by the abolition of all social welfare, essentially, unemployment would explode out of control due to public sector job cuts and the economy would contract massively. With unemployment low and a massive budget surplus, there's also no reason to cut so dramatically. You'd probably end up creating a massive budget deficit, in the real world, not sure if that'd be reflected in the game's model. There's a reason real-world conservative governments are balancing budgets by making cuts each year and not all in one go!)

MessageWe have always stood for lower government spending and small government, but we vehemently oppose the complete dismantling of government. These massive spending cuts are insanity. We haven't been overly generous with welfare, but how in the name of humanity can you reduce Health and Social Services spending by 99.9 percent (literally)? We do not want a militarised state where people are starving and the economy is in tatters. No, no, no. In the interests of the Zardic people, we would be very glad to arrange for PM Chirac to meet a psychiatrist.

MessageThe proposals outlined in Dr. Loring's bill would, if enacted, absolutely devastate our national economy, our infastructure, our welfare state, our education system and our healthcare system in the interests of creating a military state. We do rather feel that there should be an immediate investigation into the legitimacy of the PhD Loring claims to hold - and, for that matter, into the mental stability and wellbeing of the Prime Minister, if he is foolish enough to support these proposals.

The Labour Party may not enjoy representation in Congress presently, but we will do everything in our power to challenge and resist these proposals. This long-term impact of this budget would be leave us as the most impoverished nation on the planet and reduce our nation to violent anarchy. We would have people literally dying in the streets because the nation cannot afford to operate more than a handful of hospitals across the country. We would have millions of illiterate children because the State can afford to educate only a few thousand. We would have a civil service comprised of a few hundred persons spread across a dozen departments. Our nation would be effectively annihilated by the Government's proposals, and we sincerely doubt even the Prime Minister's better funded army would be able to maintain order in that environment.

We are proud to stand with our colleagues in the NDP in opposition to this budget, and will do all we can to support their deputies in battling it as it makes its way through Congress. We implore the Government to withdraw this legislation immediately.
