Details
Submitted by[?]: Hosian Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes for the ratification of a treaty. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 3985
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, This bill asks for the ratification of the Rocc-Cola Group Franchising Treaty. If this treaty is ratified, it becomes binding and will define national law. It is time that we bring the great taste of Rocc-Cola to our fine nation! With this treaty we can help create jobs for Luthorians while generating an increase in tax revenue. The Rocc-Cola workers would be paid a living wage as stipulated by our laws and would be given the right to unionize and collectively bargain. So there can be no exploitation of our citizens by this company. This was the only way our own Labor Faction, led by Adolph Reeder, would have consented to the introduction of this treaty. I yield, Brendan O'Leary Minister of Foreign Affairs |

Message | Mr Speaker, It is not the government's job to decide what our people drink and what they don't. It's clear the Hosian Socialists want an economy based on selected items which they want to see people consume not what people want. Thank you, Raul Ryan Trade and Industry Candidate |

Message | Mr. Speaker and Members of the Legislature, Respectfully this treaty only allows the Rocc-Cola corporation to operate within your great nation and it outlines some benefits that your nation will reap due to allowing us to operate here. We will follow your laws and this in no way mentions the state sponsoring of our product. It is simply an acknowledgement of our ability to operate within your country. Sincerely, Jason Peters Chairman of the Board Roco-Cola Corporation |

Message | Mr Speaker, I don't think it's the government's job to decide what corporations operate in Luthori. We need an economy built by businesses and local people not large money grabbing corporations dictating our economy. It's saddening a Socialist Party is welcoming a corporation from God knows where. Surely a socialist should know the need for community before corporations. Thank you, Raul Ryan Trade and Industry Candidate |

Message | Mr. Speaker, As the Minister of Trade and Industry and former union leader, I know the importance of community businesses. However, in the age of globalization it is important to embrace multinational corporations so that more business may be brought to our nation. We are not allowing a company to come in Willy-Nilly and exploit our citizens, no! Instead we are bringing in a corporation that will pay a living wage to our workers, allow them to unionize and collectively bargain all the while the Rocc-Cola company pays an 11% tax as opposed to 10%. This is not exploitation, this is a good deal for Luthori. Former Foreign Minister, Brendan O'Leary, was trying to expand economic opportunity with this treaty. Message | Mr Speaker, And what happens oncs the company goes into a deficit in this country? Do you think it will stay? No, it won't. What will these socialists do then? Once there is hundreds if not thousands out of work? What about the small businesses producing the juices our people know and love? With competition like this I see these businesses collapsing. I'd rather see our people employed by several employers instead of one incase any fail. This corporation is not reliable and will not provide long time work. They promise to pay more tax in every country and provide the minimum wage - which isn't really that amazing - and still hope to make a profit. I wouldn't like go know how much they'll charge for this "Rocc-Cola". Thank you, Raul Ryan Trade and Industry Candidate |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We respectfully ask Mr. Ryan to stop fear-mongering and worrying about whether or not this company will go south. This should be viewed as an investment opportunity for the people of Luthori, bring more jobs as well as a tasty beverage. Mr. Ryan has no evidence to back up his suspicion that the Rocc-Cola company will fail, he just assumes that it will. As far as small businesses are concerned, we must remember that Rocc-Cola is an original business which is unlike anything else that has been seen in Luthori. Juice makers and small soda bottlers will be affected, but not in a way that will significantly harm their current businesses. This treaty does not give a monopoly to the Rocc-Cola company over any industry in Luthori, it simply gives them permission to operate. I request that the MP' from the CUP read over the agreement again and then come back if they have any real complaints. I yield Douglas Samuels Minister for Trade and Industry |

Message | Mr. Speaker and Members of the Legislature, I would like to caveat on what Mr. Peters, Chairman of the Rocc-Cola Board of Directors, this treaty is to simply acknowledge that the Rocc-Cola Group is allowed to sell and operate within Luthori. I can promise you all that we are not some money grabbing huge corporations only out to make profit. Rocc-Cola was developed and originally sold only in the Federal Republic of Hutori. I developed the formula which has become a all-time favorite among Hutorians. We at Rocc-Cola wish to spread that and we want to be in Luthori, that's why this opportunity was presented to your nation first. Many other nations have moved forward on proposals just like this. I wish to ease any and all fears you may have. I can almost guarantee if this is approved it will be a decision no one will regret. Approving this treaty opens up franchisee licensing agreements that will allow for Luthorians to own a Rocc-Cola Franchise, meaning Rocc-Cola Luthori will be "owned" and operated by Luthorians. Respectfully, Kendall Wayne Founder and CEO of the Rocc-Cola Group |

Message | Mr Speaker, I don't see how bringing up relevant points is "fear-mongering and worrying about whether or not this company will go south". If anything should be taken from this debate it is that the Hosian Socialists want us to be blind! I am afraid to say you have no evidence this company willl succeed. It is likely they will fail because they promise too much to succeed. Thank you, Raul Ryan Trade and Industry Candidate |
