| RECOGNISING the need to prevent possession of arms in the general population WITH THE AIM OF decreasing crime rates, and prevention of often fatal accidental discharges of the weapon. ALSO REGARDING protection of our police forces from armed criminals CONSEQUENTLY adult individuals may not own firearms unless professionally required. |

Current: Individuals are allowed to own firearms as long as they do not have a history of dangerous mental illness or a violent criminality.
