Bill: RP Law: Freedom of Expression Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Luthorian Labour - Progressive Wing 🛑

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 5244

Description[?]:

- The government is legally required to protect every freely formed political association from political violence, harassment and intimidation to protect the right to free speech held by all Luthorians.
- However, the government can choose to revoke this right for a specific political party on the grounds that they are either politically extremist, or have used violence against any other political group.
- To revoke this right for any party, the government must have the backing of 200 members of the Imperial Diet.
- In the case that the political association appeals their removal of their right to protection, the Supreme Court shall be the final deliberative body on this matter (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=677464)
- If any political organisation declares that the government has breached this law, then the Supreme Court shall be responsible for reaching a final verdict.
- If the Supreme Court decides that the government has breached this agreement, the victim can table a motion for early elections.

OOC: I think this counts as a constitutional law, so it needs 2/3 majority to pass.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I don't think it's the government's right to ban political groups, however i think it would be the responsibility of the House.

MessageYou misunderstand me - this doesn’t involve the banning of political groups in any way, it just refers to the revocation of their right to protection from violence.
