Description[?]:
The National Party was formed in November 4868. =Policies= The National Party identifies as a right-wing party with important nationalist and conservative elements. The party has emerged as a strongly anti-immigrant movement, which is a particular feature of support in urban areas. Socially the party is conservative and supportive of traditional policies on the family and with support for organised religion, particularly amongst rural elements. On economics the party is split between free traders and those favouring protectionism and support for Kirlawan domestic industries, in particular agriculture and fishing. The party supports strong welfare provision although is inclined to limited government intervention in other areas. =Factions= The party has two broad factions, the National Conservatives and the Liberal Conservatives. Both factions represent broad cultural trends in the wider population with the ethnic and linguistic split between the Kilani and the Luthori speaking elements of the populations exacerbated by the split within Hosianism between Aurorianism and Bishopalism. Both factions are in alignment on Kirlawan nationalism, support for immigration restrictions, strong support for the military and a preference for the free market. The National Conservatives are historically aligned with Kilani speakers and members of the Aurorian Church. Typically focused on social conservatism and isolationist policies, leaning towards protectionism is trade matters. The centre of support for National Conservatives is Dirlana, with stronger support in rural areas and amongst working class supporters of the party. Former President Fiona Uí hIarfhlatha represents this tradition in the party. On the other side the Liberal Conservative faction is rooted in the Luthori speaking community and the Bishopal Church. This wing favour moderate social policies, is more internationalist in outlook (although still favouring limited immigration) and is focused on supporting the middle classes, business community and large farmers. Current leader James Butler represents this wing of the party. =Affiliates= Although competing as the National Party at the national level the party is composed of a number of smaller political parties, including some affiliates at the national level. The Republican Party and a number of Independent candidates will stand under the National Party label in the 4868 elections. =Heritage= The party traces its ancestry to Ár Náisiún (http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty.php?partyid=40023) and right-wing elements of the Rural Party (http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty.php?partyid=40317) and elements of the Kirlawan People's party (http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty.php?partyid=40480) that did not join the Freedom Party. |

Random fact: Large scale RP planning (such as wars, regional/continental conflicts, economic collapse, etc.) should be planned (as best as it can be) and should have consent of a majority of players involved. |
Random quote: "A democracy that does not allow limits is not a democracy. Just as a limitless freedom is not freedom, but prevarication. Indeed, any theory of freedom worthy of this name is first of all a limit theory. If we extend the unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not willing to defend a tolerant society against the attacks of the intolerants, then the tolerants will be destroyed and the tolerance with them! Because, I ask to myself and ask you, given a certain system that we call democratic, which is today the best possible system to allow everyone to live freely and to be able to express their own thoughts, how can the same system admit attacks against its integrity? How can a system refuse the principle of the self-preservation? For this reason, to suppress the apologetics of thalerrism, it's for this reason that the exaltation of exegetes, principles, facts or methods of Thallerism and its anti-democratic aims does not constitute a violation of the freedom of manifestation of thought, but, on the contrary, the celebration of that freedom. The protection of the first premise on which a modern democratic system is based. And this premise must be safeguarded also and above all against itself and its abuses." ~ Malik Astori, Leadership of Liberty and Progress (Istalia) |
