Description[?]:
Novy Smer translates as "New Direction", and this is the way in which we shall take society. The New Direction Party exists to bring change to the way society works. We seek to build and protect a society in which each citizen has a responsibility to contribute to the state and the state has a responsibility to protect the well being of the individual. We oppose the culture of dependency and aim to provide state support only to those who truly need it. New Direction seeks a society in which individuals have complete freedom in their personal lives, recognised by the state, providing that they do no harm to others. We believe that certain essentials of life and civilsation should be provided only by the state (education and health care, for example) to guarantee equality of access and delivery regardless of income. We go beyond secularism or atheism. We are actively antitheistic and therefore believe that all religions are equally dangerous and harmful to society. We oppose the interference of religion in all aspects of public life, including the displaying of religious imagery in public. In relation to the environment, we support policies founded on hard facts of science. We do not support trendy environmentalism based upon media induced hysteria or science fiction. Our opinion of the other parties in Aldegar: Ducal Delegation - Our arch enemies. Run by a corrupt. despotic aristocrat for his own personal gain. This party has contempt for all but the ultra-rich and priviledged. Neo-Libertarian Party - Another enemy. They only apply liberty to the rights of oppressors or the rights of the majority to be oppressed. They fail to see that without economic reform and intervention to aid redistribution in the marketplace the ordinary people of Aldegar will always suffer at the hands of those born into more fortunate circumstances, or perhaps they just don't care? Fenner Brockway Socialist Party - Our closest allies, although they have let us down in the past. They are good on most issues except law & order although they lack the conviction to pursue the most radical reforms of the economy and public services. Progressive Liberal Party - Usually a friend but they lack any real drive to pursue radical reform. Perhaps just a little too capitalist. Progressive Conservatives - Often more progressive than conservative. We are however concerned by their willingness to get into bed with the Ducal Delegation and the Neo-Libertarians and the fact that they have consistently voted against equality for Lesbians and Gay men in Aldegar. Sanctaphrax Party - An old party that is not doing so well now. Not very active and not reliable for support. We have a neutral stance towards them. Labour Party - We hope this new party will be an ally. Civil Liberties Party - A recently returned party. Not very radical or very leftist and so not a natural partner for Novy Smer. Very good on some rights issues but not so good on others such as abortion. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
