Description[?]:

The New Liberals is a classical liberal party with a notable social liberal faction. Founded on the key principles of individual autonomy and responsibility, cultural and moral individuality, a free economy and market and political devolution; the New Liberals are defenders of a liberal welfare democratic state.

Founded on 3283, our party stands as a party, although erected by intellectuals, relying on its grass-roots movement and its youth wing, the Young New Liberals.
The party motto "Compromise, Rejection & Opportunity" represent the three ways model of policy making of our party:
'Compromise' in that we are willing to broker agreements with other parties as long as these respect the liberal democratic characteristics of any modern state.
'Rejection' as a principle by which we will not and we cannot accept the status quo, the current situation, the baseline today: We want always to look forwards from the present. Our political, social and economical goals are long-term focused.
'Opportunity'' means that we are willing to use every possibility we have or we are given to strengthen and further expanding the causes that our voters and our party respects and believes in.

Our Electoral Program, based on the book "Freedom Book" by John Wiseman, leader of the party and candidate for the post of Minister of Finance:

ECONOMY, MARKETS & TRADE
In economical terms, the New Liberals have always defended a free-market, post-industrial economy with little to no economic intervention from the government or any other state institution, believing that the market, and the economy, as parts of the civil society, should stay separated from the government’s reach. Four our party, the economy is vital, it is the centre of the liberty, as only a liberal economy – meaning a free one - can ensure that the principles of democracy and a liberal and open society are respected and upheld.
With respect to the markets or the different economic sectors we do not propose any long-term plans, as the economy must handle itself, we have no right to interfere with it, only to safeguard that the private rights and properties are respected. The New Liberals have as course of action the firm belief in the need to privatize and liberalize the market. Laissez-faire capitalism is our proposal combined with a social security net controlled by local authorities to maximize efficiency. We believe in laissez-faire market economy because of the cyclical course of its functioning, by effectively entering periods of economic growth and recession, it regulates itself, therefore not needing the government over watch, allowing the state to focus on more important issues.
On trade, we are firmly defendants of international free trade, this is the only way forward, as our economy relies on exports and in foreign investments, just as foreign economies require our products and our investment. By ending both subsidies and protectionist tariffs, we can ensure that we enjoy a much more successful and prosperous economy but also that prices are low and people don’t suffer hunger or the lack of commodities.
On taxes, our stance is clear, they are bad, yes, but they are necessary. The welfare state must be retained as do other kind of government services, however, we believe that the central government must be clear on its fiscal and monetary policy: a clear, simple system without loopholes with an equalitarian negative income tax combined with a flat tax, meaning that all taxpayers shall pay the same proportion of their earnings to the government, we calculate this to be in between 10-17.5% of personal incomes. We however do not accept indirect taxes, as these only contribute to maintain income inequality between members of different classes. On the hand, we do believe in direct taxes, as they are equal for everybody, an exception to this rule would be the corporate tax, which we don’t support as it is inherently malign for the economy but realize that in cases of necessity, it might have to be imposed, even though at small rates, not surpassing the 5-9% rates.
Our monetary policy, is also well-thought, inflation is always a big problem, and it should be always as low as possible, its long-term effect is terrible for the economy, to do this, we do accept the idea of a central bank with a powerful monetary reserve, which would work on cooperation with private firms and regulatory authorities to ensure that the total emission of capital is controlled to avoid the unnecessary increase in prices that inflation always has brought.

SOCIETY & HUMAN RIGHTS
Our party believes that the government has no say in what we do in our bedrooms or on how our moral compasses dictate us. We believe that only the citizen is responsible for what he does as he is entirely autonomous in his decisions. Therefore we don’t believe that the government should be like a parent, it has no right to dictate what we have to do, only to punish those who fail to respect the laws that ensure our liberties, our rights and our obligations with each other and towards the State. However, in this process of law-making, again, the government should entrust the local governments to do so, as it is the best option: local governments are always closer to the people, and therefore more responsible towards their voters than any other large organism. Just like the state doesn’t need to interfere with the economy, it shouldn’t have to interfere with our daily lives and what we decide to do with them, unless we break the Law.
For us, our human rights, such as freedom of association, of press or of thought as the basis of any society, without these, we would be easily under control from the same totalitarian style of government that predated liberalism and some later expressions of it, such as state socialism and fascism and its derivative forms. For us, rights cannot be dictated by a law, we are defenders of the Natural Law. That means that, in our opinion, no Law or law should be placed above the natural rights that any person has inherently. If we reach government, we will derogate all those laws that contradict the Natural Law, as they are against the very basis of our society works not because of customs, principles or parliamentary commissions but because it is how it is. We therefore fully adhere to the Human Rights’ protection and we believe that no government has the right to regulate morals.
Morality is, in our opinion, as aforementioned, not the business of the government, therefore we are convinced that we must abolish all laws that dictate social behaviours unless these are passed by referendum, and therefore represent the general will.

WELFARE STATE & OTHER GOVT. SERVICES
The New Liberals doesn’t believe that the welfare of society or public services are a privilege of the state, but rather that to maximize its efficiency, we believe that a healthy combination of both the public and the private sector is the best option to guarantee a high-quality welfare state. It is also our belief that to guarantee the quality of the welfare it must be free of direct government intervention, and although we believe that the government must lay down a series of recommendations and regulations in these aspects, these services must be provided by either devolved public organizations or either fully-private or partially-private organizations to ensure local provision and a specialized focus depending on each region and to avoid any possible use of these services (especially education) to conditionate the population.
In the field of education, our policy is based on both school vouchers and open enrolment. We have defended and defend a policy of specialization in education during the secondary education. It is very important that children receive a precise education referring not only for what they want to study but also for what they have the aptitudes to study, that s why we reject comprehensive schools in favour of specialized ones. We also further the cause of school vouchers as both private and public schools shall receive the same treatment from the state, both receiving funds and having no acceptable entrance exams, if they wish to receive such funds. These vouchers, alongside the open enrolment policy shall allow parents to choose the school for their children, and along with or proposed reform of the education-related careers to become some of the top-notch ones in the nation, shall ensure that children both with great capacities or low capacities receive their required care from their teachers and professors. On the issue of universities, we realize the unpopularity of the tuition fees and scholarships, however these are necessary to co-fund (alongside the State’s subventions) the financial capacity of the universities to both teach and do research. However, we believe that a large Excellency-based system of scholarship for low and middle income families is to implemented to ensure that our universities can have the most prepared students. Meanwhile, for those who can’t or don’t want to enter university, and following our desire for a specialized education, we want to encourage and promote the technical and vocational education systems, as they provide the backbone of any developed nation’s industries.
Regarding the issue of healthcare, our party takes a similar stance as in education. We believe in an open system where private and public sectors are connected and autonomously from the government. To do this, we propose the “National Insurance Plan”, a plan by which we propose the privatization of all public hospitals and create a double standard of hospitals: the fully private and the subsidized. After the privatization of hospitals and clinics, the second part of our proposal in line with the NIP is to end the compulsory status of the public system. Instead we would put in place a system of compulsory insurances, either done through a private one or a public one that however would not be funded by taxes but by the people choosing to employ it. Insurance companies should use a double system: a compulsory non-profit basic insurance with for-profit expansions such as dental care. In the case of more important surgeries and treatments, apart from the pay of the insurance, the state subsidy and the insured person would pay a part on it, about a 50:30:20 ratios between each payer for these treatments.
Four our party, safety is the guaranty and guardant of the respect of rights, freedom and civility. However, we cannot accept the authoritarian ideas of security over liberty, as without liberty, security means repression and suppression. In our opinion, law enforcement agencies should be divided in two tiers: a series of local police agencies that ensure, with the aid of citizens’ guard and other voluntary citizens safety in their respective areas as well as the respect of Law. Alongside these local agencies and voluntary organizations we defend the existence of a federal agency in charge of serious offences and people too dangerous to be handled by local policemen. We believe that fire-fighting activities are necessary and that fire fighters are an important institution of public health and safety, however we believe that there is no need for these kinds of activities to be only performed by government-approved bodies; in fact we believe that private citizens should form their own corps to aid these government-sanctioned proud corps.
