Description[?]:
The Royalist Unity Party is a conservative political party in Telamon. The RUP believes: - that aristocracy, while an important part of our cultural tradition, should play no actual part in government; that aristocratic government is both anachronistic and undemocratic; and that a popular mandate should be the sole source of political power; - that the free market and innovation are powerful engines of progress when unburdened by regulation, government intervention and excessive taxation; but that there is also room in a capitalist economy for equal opportunity and compassionate social policy; - that progress has often been a force for positive change, but unfortunately has a tendency to erode traditional family values; and that the government is therefore responsible for ensuring the survival of these time-honoured mores; - that our country ought to play a greater role on the world stage; that a strong military will guarantee our national security; and that working with other nations will often benefit our country, but when this is not the case, our national interests should never come second; - that the government has an obligation to keep its people safe by tackling crime; that effective policing, corrections and counter-terrorism should be national priorities; and that rehabilitation is necessary, but should not lead to soft-on-crime policies; - that the government should fund the maintainence of world-class healthcare and education systems, public infrastructure and cutting-edge scientific research; but that private enterprise should also be allowed to exist and flourish in these areas; - that humanity is responsible for protecting and preserving the natural environment; but that environmental protection cannot be allowed to compromise the productiveness of our economy and our quality of life; and - that a strong awareness of our joint national identity ought to be fostered; but that national solidarity should not lead to a reduction in the power regional governments, which are closest to the people. |
