Description[?]:
INACTIVE INDEFINITELY God Save the King! ~ Independent Republican Party Mission Statement ~ To pass legislation in the best interests of the people of the Five Nations of Lodamun that sustains a first-class nation – economically and socially -- and in the process make a positive statement about its collective vision and core values. ~ Party Views ~ Military Activity: We support the use of military action if Lodamun is attacked by any external or internal forces. The IRP also supports the buildup of a strong national defense system so that we may keep peace and stability, which are the two of the most proficient ways for a nation to prosper. Economy: We are strongly for a capitalist economy with laissez-faire polices. The government should have little to no control over the economy except during times of severe economic hardship. History has demonstrated the success of a consumer-based market controlled by the principles of supply and demand. The government should do nothing to restrict this success. Taxation: We believe that taxes are an integral part of a nation's economy. However, we are strong supporters of tax cuts for both corporations and the middle class and a more balanced income tax. By providing benefits for corporations that are headquartered in Lodamun, we can increase the amount of business and jobs in the economy. Also, the middle class, which serve as the backbone of any successful capitalist nation, deserve to obtain the majority of benefits from tax cuts. By providing this group of people with tax relief, the nation’s economy would boom as this class of consumers would have more money to spend on goods. At the same time, we support a nearly flat income tax. The current tax system punishes the rich by taxing them to death. We should reward and not punish this group of people for their success through a flat income tax. Environment: The IRP is a pro-environmental party and support laws that protect it from harmful pollution. Also, in order to allow the economy of Lodamun to advance and prosper, we support the use of alternative fuels and energies. This type of technology is key to maintaining economic prosperity, and we support tax cuts and benefits that reward citizens and companies for research and use of alternative energies. Science and Technology: The IRP supports laws that promote the advancement of science and technology including laws that promote and encourage stem cell research. The potential of stem cell research is limitless as it can be used to develop cures to diseases such as diabetes. Also, contrary to the claims of opponents, stem cell research does not present a moral obstacle. Stem cells used in this research are left over from in-vitro fertilization and would be discarded otherwise. Education: It is the right of every child to a good education as it is extremely vital to the future success of Lodamun. A well-educated workforce helps build a better and stronger economy. Also, a good education gives an individual the opportunity and tools to advance in society. For these reasons, the public education should be a priority in government spending. Religion: This party supports religious freedoms but believes in strong separation of church and state. It is the fundamental right of every citizen to choose their religious beliefs and not be pressured by the government to join a state-sponsored organization. Personal religious beliefs and politics simply do not mix. And, with so much religious diversity in Lodamun, religion should not play a part in the legislative process. Gay and Lesbian Rights: The IRP in favor of giving homosexual people the right to marry. It should be the fundamental right of every person to be able to choose their sexual orientation regardless of the opinions of society. Abortion: Embryos are living, breathing, and fully-functioning organisms, which is why abortion should be made illegal except in medical emergencies. If the life of a pregnant mother is at stake, she should be able to choose whether or not to give birth. Also, if a woman is a victim of rape or is a minor, she should be able to choose whether or not she wishes to give birth to a child. However, there is no reason that embryos should be aborted as a means of population control. If a person does not want a baby, they should simply restrain from sexual intercourse, or they can put their child up for adoption. Gun Control: The IRP supports the restriction of guns and gun sales. Weapons should be banned from all public places as there is no need for guns for defensive purposes. ~ Notable Modern Elections (After 2400) ~ August 2410 - 68 seats Due to increased participation in Parliament, we experienced our largest seat increase in history. We hope to put forth our plan of action before the next election so that we can gain even more seats. March 2413: 120 seats We experienced our biggest gain yet thanks in part to our increased participation in Parliament. February 2414: 103 seats Our seat gain ended as limited participation in Parliament prevented some of our representatives from being reelected. February 2417: 39 seats (out of 599) As more parties joined Lodamun and proposed more bills, seats became more spread out causing our party to experience a dramatic drop in seats. April 2425: 33 seats (out of 599) In our first election with Rudy Gulliani as the visible head of the party, we managed a moderate seat gain of six seats. We hope to boost our popularity for the next election under Gulliani's leadership. August 2432: 49 seats (out of 599) Thanks to Newt Gingrich's successful campaigning strategies, our seats in Parliament doubled leaving us with a much greater influence. April 2437: 97 seats (out of 599) June 2438: 165 seats (out of 599) After a successful campaign for the early elections, we became the Majority Party in Lodamun for the first time in history. July 2441: 53 seats (out of 599) For some inexplicable reason, we dropped out of the majority and lost two-thirds of our previous seat total. October 2450: 45 seats (out of 599) April 2458: 58 seats (out of 599) April 2467: 73 seats (out of 599) February 2470: 115 seats (out of 599) February 2476: 10 seats (out of 100) August 2481: 3 seats (out of 100) September 2488: 9 seats (out of 100) Thanks to our new identity change, the IRP is expecting a substantial seat growth come next election. February 2494: 13 seats (out of 100) We experienced a substantial seat gain, but more importantly, Michael Bloomberg won the presidency thanks to an endorsement from the Conservative Party. One of our main objectives was to forge a successful cabinet, but, unfortunately, President Bloomberg failed due to a failure to reach agreements with other parties. August 2498: 9 seats (out of 100) Unfortuanately, the IRP lost its control on the presidency to the URP's Owen Vena. August 2504: 4 seats (out of 100) Due to recent inactivity, the IRP became the least influential party in Lodamun. ~ Recent News ~ COMING SOON ~ Archives ~ IRP BECOMES NEW MAJORITY PARTY http://www.takeforum.com/particracy/viewtopic.php?p=157432&mforum=particracy#157432 GIULIANI NAMED MINORITY LEADER OF IRP http://www.takeforum.com/particracy/viewtopic.php?p=155581&mforum=particracy#155581 IRP MINORITY LEADER MATT UNGER RESIGNS http://www.takeforum.com/particracy/viewtopic.php?p=155369&mforum=particracy#155369 ~ Party Leadership ~ Minority Leader: Rudy Giuliani (2424-present) Minority Whip: Mike DeWine (2424-present) Chairman of Party Affairs: Jon Kyl (2391-present) Conference Chairman: Joe Johnson (2424-present) Policy Comittee Chairman: George Voinovich (2391-present) Counselor to the Minority Leader: Dwight Eisenhower (2391-present) Campaign Minister: Newt Gingrich (2391-present) Due to Gingrich's experience as a politician and his successful campaigning skills that were exhibited duing the 1994 U.S. Republican Revolution, he was hired as the Independent Republican Party Campaign Minister. As soon as he was hired, he immediately increased our visibility with the people of Lodamun through his excellent campaign strategies. We reached an all-time high of 120 seats in March 2413. After a drop-off in seats, Gingrich's successful campaign tactics helped restore our former glory and make history. In the June 2438 elections, the IRP gained 165 seats making it the Majority Party for the first time in the history of Lodamun. ~ Past IRP Presidents ~ Micheal Bloomberg (2493-2496) In 2493, Bloomberg won the presidency thanks to a successful campaign with an endorsement from the Conservative Party. President Bloomberg attempted to form a new cabinet to give the IRP some executive influence, but failed in negotiations with the URP. Bloomberg's term was short unfortunately, but he hopes to learn from his experience. "We made some mistakes in our term," reflected Bloomberg. "But, we'll be much better prepared next time to accomplish our goals." IRP Endorsement for the Presidency: James Tyler II (Conservative Party of Lodamun Party) The Independent Republican Party is proud to endorse President James Tyler II for the Lodamun presidency. Tyler possesses good leadership qualities and favors policies backed by the IRP. Minority Leader Rudy Giuliani said in a statement, "Tyler stands for everything which we believe and strive for. He follows and executes the IRP mission statement." The endorsement was also made possible by good relations with the Conservative Party as they have been a valuable political ally. |
