Description[?]:
The Intellectual Party was founded by Richard Denning, Ann Kent and Edward McIntyre. Richard Denning was a noted psychologist, author and famous public intellectual, Ann Kent a respected journalist and Edward McIntyre an architect. The trio founded the Intellectual Party because of the frustrations they saw around them and saw themselves as a group without a voice. Richard Denning, a controversial man over his views on religion and superstition, assumed the leadership of the party. Denning, a convinced atheist, had caused controversy with his book entitled "Religion: An Excuse For The Mistakes Of Mankind" laid out the manifesto of the Intellectual Party in a small but crowded lecture theatre, stating the importance of justice and equality, an end to the unfairness of capitalism and a vow to protect civil liberties. The Intellectual Party is a left-wing, liberal, socialist group. They believe in freedom, equality, democracy and the ideals put forth in the Enlightenment, these are universal values of human rights, and a belief in reason and rationality. The name of the party was changed to the Liberal Intellectual Party in 2277 The main priorities of the Intellectual are the following: Creating a society where the work done by the masses does not solely profit the few. Creating a society that provides for the poor and unfortunate. To this end it believes in a national health service paid for by taxes, protecting trade unions and worker rights, minimum wage laws and a tax system that benefits the entire country. Protecting and extending civil liberties. Freedom of speech and expression is of paramount importance, the Intellectual Party's members are virtually all atheists or agnostic and yet defend the right of religions to exist, a testament to the strength of their beliefs. Reintroducing the country to the importance of reason, rationality and science. Promoting peace around the world and strengthening relations with our neighbours. |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
