This press message was released by the Government of the Federal Commonwealth of Sekowo.

The nations of Sekowo and Beiteynu have been at odds for years, centuries even. During our expansions, undertaken over a century ago, we moved to incorporate into our Federal Commonwealth's Protectorate the small island of Tropica. This provoked an uproar from the Jews of Beiteynu. “Our homeland,” they cried! “Our ancestors! Our culture!” Beiteynu demanded it back, claiming it to be part of Squibble, a wasteland that the Federal Commonwealth had no interest in. Their claim was summarily denied. They took it to the international stage, and it was again and again denied. As our colonization continued, a certain Christian Zionist Party anonymously fabricated stories of the natives being mistreated by the Sekowan explorers and colonizers, absolute bunk.

I submit to Sekowo and Beiteynu both that this latest request is just as ridiculous as the last. You Beiteynuese try to woo us with sugar and honey, as your threats of military intervention had died without even spreading their deformed and fledgling wings. Your “homeland,” you still claim, and it is still not a proper claim. Can Sekowo lay claim to Artania? It has thriving civilizations, and it was indeed the birthplace of millions of ancestors of the Sekowan people. Your “ancestral people,” yet they are farther removed from you than we are from Artanians. As for your “culture,” I remember seeing no Stars of David, no menorahs, no yarmulkas, nothing like that in the reports of the natives.

But this insult to our intelligence is not the greatest yet. No, the greatest is that you expect us to give up an island which Sekowans worked to build. An island whose infrastructure is unchangeably Sekowan. An island whose people have been Sekowans as long as almost all of them can remember. But even worse is that you ofer a piddling one-fourth of tourism profits (not even gross revenues, profits!) for less than a third of the time we have held Tropica as a protectorate!

We have not forgotten the threats and blind antagonism of Beiteynu in the past, and we shall not give up the product of a century of Sekowan lives for a trivial sum of money.

A leak at a factory in Dandratur has caused thousands of litres of poisonous chemicals to be released into an important river. Environmentalists predict that the aquatic life in the river will be wiped out and it will take years to recover. The company responsible, PBP Inc., is a major member in the heavy materials sector of Dandratur and there are worries that a similar incident could happen in their other plants that exist throughout Pontesi. The company has refused to comment on the issue.

CELEBRATION 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EMPIRE

Today is a day of Celebration throughout the entire Aldurian Republic Empire, as the Empire celebrates its 70th anniversary. On this date June 20 in 2490 the First Aldurian Empire was founded under the leadership of the last Stuart, Emperor John I, and the Imperial Chancellor Danan Villayn. Both of whom are the grandparents of the current Emperor, Philippe Villayn II. The F.A.E. might not exist anymore, but the now Republic Empire that has stood since the crowning of the current Emperor is its successor and thus feels the same great joy of the date as if it were the empire. This is a great day for all od Aldurians. From that date Alduria has been in a golden age, and looks as if it will continue for over a 1000 years.

As they were earlier this year, the people of the Empire are shouting and celebrating.

I am pround to annouce that Empress Mary Villayn of the Aldurian Republic Empire, has give Alduria two twins to add onto their Imperial family. It is with great honor that I introduce their Imperial Excellencies, Prince Michel and Princess Relena Villayn. The Emperor, Philippe Villayn II, is overjoyed with the birth of his two twins, and the young Princes, 9 year old Crown Prince Philippe and 5 year old Prince Henri, were also happy to have a new little brother and sister in their family. The bells of churchs and the streets of Alduria and Luthori ring with joy over the birth of these two children, along with the shouting of people in the the Imperial Square.

New Year's Day 2560 Celebrations
